Viareggio

Well another few weeks have past and we apologise for the lack of ‘notes’

We’ve been a bit busy with preparing for a charter and trying to finish all the little jobs that seem to take forever

We left La Spezia with guests from Perini on board and did an awesome sail by Viareggio, crowds gathered on the shoreline and a helicopter recorded the occasion (see the new front page)
Then we dropped off back in La Spezia and headed south for Sardinia and our first charter.

We had a great sail down with the wind slowly rising to 30 Kts and as we passed the straits of Bonafacio with only 5 sails set, we broke our sailing speed record with an awesome 18.3 kts. The ‘Falcon’ sails like a dream, and we are slowly learning all of the ways to make her go well. Its one of the most amazing things I have ever done, sailing fast in a huge yacht with relative ease and comfort.
We are now well into our first charter and so far so good, the guests seem impressed and we have even sailed off an anchorage, along the coast and back at a pleasant 4Kts in 5.5Kts of breeze and back onto the anchorage again with no dramas and a very impressed flotilla of local sightseers.

Every where we go, from secluded anchorages to the busy beaches of St Tropez, it doesn’t take long before the crowds arrive and we are sat amidst a flotilla of well-wishers’ with cameras flashing and mouths agape. And as soon as the sails are set, we are followed for miles. It’s a bit disconcerting at first but we are getting used to the fame, all we need now is the fortune bit!!
